current music: audiovent – underwater silence

Hello everyone. As you all know (most of you), i’ve been on sick leave for a week now and tomorrow i’m returning to work. Will be very weird. Because before my sick leave i was one week free and between that and my leave was only one shift, so in over two weeks i’ve only worked one day. But tomorrow i will return to Nokia pick up where i left off. We had Endrive practise yesterday and we will have one more today. I can’t wait for our next show which is coming up, miss being on stage and rocking out. The next show will be on March 22nd at S-Osis here in Turku along with turku-based hardcore band Sixtus, Thrust Moment from Pori (if my memory serves me correctly) and Kolt from Helsinki, that’s one great line-up my friends. So if you leave in the area, you really can’t afford to miss this event.

I left this world in peace, love and laughter
and wherever laughter, love and peace abide
I am there in spirit

current music: angels and airwaves – the adventure

Howdy howdy everyone. So the weekend is for the most part over, less than two hours left. My parents left back for Kokkola around 2pm today and i just dropped Melanie “home” some thirty minutes ago. So my parents were here all weekend and we did get something done around the apt. Yesterday Hans was here and my mom and Mel baked cinammon rolls for him (and the rest of us as well) as his birthday was on the 20th (Happy Birthday hankie pankie). Later yesterday we went out to eat to Denni’s pizzeria; Me, Mel and my parents. After that we came back here to watch survivor and then we rented a movie, Ratatouille, and watched that and we were finished around midnight. Today my parents came here for lunch they made, after which they took on the road to Kokkola.

Me and Melanie have been watching a lot of “Desperate Houswives” lately and i gotta say, my prejudistism (if that is a word) for that show was way off, i had no idea it’s a show that it is. Mel has the complete first and second season on DVD and we’re a bit over halfway of the first. And we’ll keep on watching them. Now i will go on with my evening and go to bed soon, see you again next time and take care!

current music: tv noise in the background

Hey there, quick update. My parents came yesterday to Turku, late enough so that i saw them this morning. We’ve been out shopping for small necessities and decorational items for the apartment. Later today, in 1,5 hours, me and my dad will test the new sauna here, well not new, but new to me. I didn’t go to the MxPx concert yesterday, due to financial reasons, but i’m alright – life goes on. I will write more and post a picture of our beautiful living room soon, it’s as ready as it can be at the moment. But now i’ll go back and do something, see you soon again.

current music: nevertheless – live like we’re alive

Hello there. Today is one of those days that we’re having Endrive promophoto shoot, not really my cup of tea. I hate posing for a camera and act all cool and… umm… cool. We will also do (i guess) some action photos of us going nuts at our practise place rocking out, so that part i’m totally ok with. I have no idea what kind of photos we’re making but i guess that i’ll get an answer to that in some hours, this happens at four. I am currently on sick leave due to a sore left knee for a week forward. At the moment it’s not that bad when i’m sitting but walking hurts quite. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that the muscle behind my left knee is sprained or something, hard to explain in english, i’m not a doctor, like Drake Ramoray.

current music: endrive – the rope (live)

Hey everybody, it’s me again, are you all very surprised. I’m trying to stay quite late up tonight because i have a nightshift coming next night so trying to get the rhythms going. I was thinking of doing a nightsession of drumming but at the moment i’m too lazy for it. On Sunday we had Endrive practise, well in a way it was yesterday but it’s already over midnight, anyway. We had practise “yesterday” and Niko (guitar) showed this new idea for a song he had, i’d like to call it progressive hardcore, that would be a great genre by the way. Anyway this song was kinda interesting. For some parts of the song i went with this traditional rock groove with a punk twist, but i’m really bored of playing this so i will come up with another drum groove for it to make it more interesting for me (and why not for everyone else as well). I hate to take the safe route on drums, doing the predicted drum beat, i like to come up with weird, odd and original stuff. That i guess is the most important thing for me as a drummer, that when someone hears me play they will identify the playing and know that it’s me playing. I actually got this comment once from another musician who heard Deep Insight from a distance and recognized the band beacause of my drumming, was nice to hear that by the way. This was years ago, in 2003 i think it was, yes. So that’s what i try to do while drumming. I never had any lessons, i’m 100% self taught, which in a way is really good. Then you really sound original when no-one teaches you “how to play”, you kinda develop your own technique from how you hold your sticks and hit your drums to how you play fills. Of course i’ve though of taking some private lessons, but we’ll see; most likely not, i’d say. Ok, sorry kinda went off topic here. I told you about our bathroom problem, it’s finally fixed, while i was at work today some plumbers were here to take care of it and now it works, so i can use the bathroom like i normally would. But now i will go on with my “staying up late”, so see you again soon. Take care everybody!

current music: cooking noises

Hello there. Now our living room is starting to take shape. We have our new couch up and the coffetable and today we went to buy an digibox so we can watch tv now and in the future. This living room is really cozy and i love it. Will be a while until everything is done, IKEA made a mistake and forgot to include some parts from our bed so the majority of next week we still have to sleep on the bedroom floor, of course on the new matrasses. The kitchen is still a work in progress too but we had breakfast there today on our new kitchen table. We still have a little problem with the bathroom and plumming but that will be taken care of on monday, let’s say we should avoid number two as much as possible until then, but of course when you have to go… you have to go, hehe. Something else i’ve forgot/failed to mention is that i won a ticket to concert of the american punk (legends) band, MxPx. I used to listen to them a bit during jr. high- and high school. I’m not 100% sure if i’m going, of all the busyness here but we’ll see about that, but i would really love to go. Time will tell. Yesterday i was finishing up the old apartment from 6-10 (pm) and that was annoying. My head was hurting so bad and i just wanted to get it done. In the meantime Mel was over here making the couch cushions ready and covered and when i got home we put on the lazy mode and had some cake, chips and dvd… pretty much what will happen tonight as well. But now i will go back to the couch and chill so see you again soon enough. Take care!

current music: cooking noises

Hello there and guess what, this is my first post from the new apartment, got internet here this morning at around 9am, for once there was no trouble or delay at all, weird, have had so much problems in the past with these internet companies and installers. Today me and my friend Sauli (of Endrive) have been moving stuff from A to B, A to C and some even from A-D. Now the old apartment is almost empty, some stuff still laying around that i will go clean away and then some vacuuming and dust viping. We’re making food now here, because we’re starving, i haven’t had anything to eat today. I dropped Sauli off at his place at around 3.20 after which i went to pick up Melanie and we bought some food which we’re cooking now. This whole place looks like a mess at the moment, boxes and cardboard everywhere. Somethings are already in place, it will look really nice when it’s done. But now i will go and eat… “ich habe hunger hunger hunger habe hunger hunger hunger habe hunger hunger hunger habe durst”

current music: mxpx – my life story

Has it been six days since, i’m truly sorry bout that, but i have been extremely busy too. Mostly of the time i’ve been spending at the new apartment with Melanie painting walls and doors and general cleaning up. Lots has still happened during the last post. My other band project, the untitled rock/prog band has decided to go for another drummer, and to be really honest it surprised me and totally bummed me out, i was enjoying this but i don’t know what happened here. But i guess life will go on and i still have Endrive, which i enjoy very much. The band is finding its own sound now and im loving it.

Today we had our shopping trip to IKEA in Espoo. I rented a van and my friend Ville came along as the driver, since the company that rented it wanted that the driver has one year experience in driving. So we (me and Mel) woke up at around 8.30 am and at 10 we picked up Ville and went to get the van and started driving towards Espoo. We had some difficulties finding it but we managed, not much extra driving, luckily. From IKEA we bought lots of stuff, including: couch, coffee table, kitchen table (with chairs), bed, bookshelf, carpet and lots of smaller stuff. Will be wonderful when we finally have the new apartment done and furnished. The coming days will be spent finishing up the painting in the apt and putting together the IKEA stuff as well as cleaning up here and getting the last stuff from here to there. Will be hectic, but in the end it will be so worth it.

Now i will go and lay down in my bed/couch and watch some DVD and then fall into a deep and peaceful sleep and get ready for a hectic day we call tomorrow. See you soon again, toodle-oo

current music: just surrender – of all we’ve known

Good morning, i just got up like 10 minutes ago and it’s 4:04 am at the moment. Some nights ago i couldn’t sleep (night between sunday and monday) so i turned on the tv although i knew nothing is on at that time, i was wrong. They showed Super Bowl XLII between the New England Patriots and New York Giants live and i decided to watch for a while and support the underdog of the game, which was the Giants. I ended up watching the whole game and Giants won against the “perfect” Patriots, who’ve had the perfect seasons without a loss, first lost game of the season and that’s the final, isn’t that ironic? We had Endrive practice on monday and yesterday which have been great. Our EP is out now, so you can contact the band if you want yours (endrivemusic@gmail.com). Other than this me and Mel have been packing and getting stuff together, slowly but surely. Next week we’re going to IKEA and on friday (the 15th) i/we finally move in to the new apartment. But now i’ll go and have some breakfast so see you guys soon again.

current music: poets of the fall – everything fades

Hey there again my dear friends. Time to sit down and drop some lines. Well i wrote here yesterday so you know what has happened recently. Last night we went to Turku’s legendary TVO to listen to Ville’s (Endrive bassist) other band Monitors Alive perform. There was three bands on the bill that evening, first off was “Proxima Centauri”, i believe i wrote that right. Gotta say i wasn’t too impressed with the performance, wasn’t so well put together, the singer and the keyboardist (who occasionally hit some drums, a snare and a tom) really messed some things up. They had some good hooks/parts in their songs and the stage energy was great, potential. Next up was “Serpico” which i think was very good. Some kind of hard rock with really strange and original, yet great vocals. Partially reminded me of Led Zeppelin, atleast the singer’s stage presence. Last up was the rock stars of “Monitors Alive” and they rocked the house. This band rocks and their live performance was good, great energy. Rock and roll is not dead my dear friends, maybe a bit tired from time to time.

Today me and Melanie have been cleaning up here and packing, getting ready for the moving in to the new apartment which will happen on the 15th, later this month. My parents will (hopefully) come to Turku next weekend to help us with putting up new wallpaper in the living room and paint the kitchen walls new. My dad’s so good with this stuff so having him around would be great. I’m so excited about this new apartment, can’t wait to get out of this doghouse. Tomorrow i’m having my last day off and i will pick Melanie up at 3pm and at 4pm we have band practise. When i get home i will join Mel in packing and stuff.
