current music: it dies today – a port in any storm

Hey there. Just got home from yet another interesting evening shift at Nokia. Now i have a brand new windshield on my car. On Thursday im taking the car to another repair shop to change the brakes, not the entire break system but the break discs or whatever they are called in english. So on Sunday it’s showtime, Me and Melanie head to Germany, by car. First we take the boat from Turku to Stockholm, then drive down to southern Sweden and drive over the bridge “Öresundsbron” to Denmark, drive through Denmark and then take a ferry over to Germany and from there on. Will be interesting and fun, can’t wait – lots of driving for me though, but this is an once in a lifetime experience so i’m sure i will enjoy it. A PookiTV episode will be made out of this, for sure. So three more work shifts (evening, night, night) and then my holidays start. My summer holiday is from June 1st to June 16th, we will be back in Finland around the 9th – 11th. I will end my post here with a little drumvideo from our past show in Helsinki. The sound quality truly sucks (filmed with my digicam, not the videocam) but i hope you get something out of it. See you again soon everyone!

current music: anberlin – the unwinding cable car

Hey there earthlings. So the four nights are over and yesterday i had the first morning shift again. I was supposed to have morning shift today too, but i have stuff to take care off so i took the day off. My car is at the moment being repaired, a new windshield is being installed, finally. At 2pm i’m going downtown to the bank to discuss finances for my germany trip and hopefully everything goes well. On friday we had our show with Endrive at TVO which went really well this time, not only that, i found a great new band. There was a band that evening playing called ‘Ghost Brigade’ and they sure rocked, loved it really. I dont have our show nor anyone elses on video, unfortunately. On saturday me and Melanie went to her aupair family for a barbeque. Later that evening an early sleep for me, due to the fact that i had morning shift on Sunday. I’ve been having lots of headache lately, dont know if it’s migrane or what but it’s really been bugging me and wont leave me alone, at the moment its a bit hurting again. I will go to the doctors office also when im in the city later (for the bank). On sunday me and Melanie are heading to Germany with my car, if everyhing works out fine with the bank. Will be fun to do this roadtrip, i’m really excited about it. To meet her family, friends and relatives. This was quite a messy post, just wanted to quickly update. Now i will go on, see you again soon. Toodles!

current music: pmmp – matkalaulu

Hey everyone. Just got home from the fourth nightshift in a row. We had two evening shifts off due to inventory at Nokia so we had to make it up with two extra night shifts. Soon i’m going to bed and later today we’re having a show with Endrive in turku (again) at TVO (again!). This time sharing the stage with the monkies of endrive are ‘Dusk of Man’, who was with us on the Tampere and Helsinki shows. Also on the bill are brilliant metal acts ‘Ghost Brigade’ and ‘Deathbed’. So if you live in the neighbourhood please pop by and go nuts in front of the stage. Thank you. I have edited together the second episode of Endrive’s reality web-tv show “A Band of Retards” and it’s entitled “Phonecalls at Gunpoint” (the reason for this title, please read my previous post, maybe you’ll get the idea). The video can be viewed below, so please (try to) enjoy. Thank you and goodnight!

current music: j. karjalainen – mä meen(live)

Hello there, sorry for no instant updates after our out-of-Turku shows with Endrive. Now i will recap these two amazing evenings. On wednesday we packed my car full with equipment and five monkies and headed towards Tampere. I drove the whole way and we had no trouble finding the venue, Vastavirta Klubi. We had a few stops on the way and on one bathroom break we saw a reindeer, fenced, but still. When we arrived to Vastavirta i was impressed by the place, thought it would’ve been way more crappier, to be honest. We soundchecked first since we would be the last band of the evening, the headliners so to speak. During soundchecked i was yet surprised by the venue, the stage sounds were really great. The other bands soundchecked after us and then started the long waiting, it’s always like this, hurry-up and wait, but whay are you going to do about it. We met an interesting character at the club while waiting for the bands to play. A man who was a part of the motorcycle group “MC Varma Kuolema” (translated as MC Certain Death). He told some stories of when he was in Turku and was being held at gunpoint and his mobile phone rang, he was innocent of course and they cought the right guy. He had also been swimming in turku (near Turku atleast) with a dead pigeon, bypassers looked weirdly at these swimmers, but, can you blame them? The three bands besides us were The Breed, Kallichore and Dusk of Man. Won’t go into specifics of their sets. There was quite much people and we managed to brake even, even though during our set most of the people had gone home, but we had fun on stage without any major messups. After our set we quickly packed our van (my car) and headed back to Turku, Ville stayed in Tampere for the night. Was quite bad weather at some points so i had to drive very slow, fog and rain and such. I came home pretty late and had a semi-morning shift the next day (10am – 2pm), was a tough one.

On Thursday when i got home from work i made some food for the trip for me and visited Melanie quickly before picking up the guys, except for Ville who was coming to Helsinki with Dusk of Man. Niko was driving my green tiger this time, since i dont want to drive in downtown Helsinki. We had some trouble finding the venue, Lepakkomies, but we took onboard from Helsinki the guitarist of Jets and present member or The Låvers, Antti. He guided us to the place, and we had been very close to it but, well we made it. We unpacked our gear and Dusk of Man checked first, they were going to be the last band of the evening. We did our check after them and the sounds were decent. Kallichore checked last and then started the waiting again. The Breed wasn’t a part of this evening. Kallichore started jamming at 9.55pm, with almost no audience, they said they just wanted to get it over with. When they finished we decided to wait a bit if maybe some more people would show up, and luckily did. We did an energetic show, maybe the most energetic to date, atleast for me personally, i rocked my heart out. We had some technical difficulties with Sauli’s and Niko’s guitars but it didn’t stop us from going completely nuts on stage. Dusk of Man rocked out last and me and sauli had a little two-man moshpit in front of the stage. After they finished we packed up and started driving back to Turku, Niko was behind the wheel this way also. We stopped on the way back for some food and took us quite a while to get back, due to occasiional foggy weather. I got to bed at about 5am or so. I had to get up at 7.45 to get to work, to do another of those semi-morningshifts, yet another tough one.

Not that doing this short shift with little sleep wasn’t enough. I got the following evening shifts (sat-sun) off due to inventory at the factory (of Nokia) so I decided with Melanie that we should drive to Kokkola and surprise my parents and my sister (yet again). So straight as i got home we got ready for driving up to Kokkola, and we did so in about six hours (only one stop on the way). We listened to the Finland – Russia semifinal in the car which finland ended up losing 4-0. Just as the game was over we arrived to our parents summerhouse and caught them offguard, again. We had some to eat there and then we drove off to our parents place in the city for the night. In the morning we headed to my sisters place and surprised her too. We were there to help her with the kids but also to see the new baby, which doesn’t have any name yet, officially. In between we went to Pedrina’s and eat with Hans (aka Hank, aka Hade) as he was also in Kokkola at the time. After our food we took Hankie back home and went back to my sisters place. The kids were quiet and calm but as soon as we stepped through the door, they went insane. At around 8.30pm we drove back to our parents summerhouse to watch the bronze medal game between Finland and Sweden, which Finland ended up winning 4-0, yes! Always nice to beat sweden in hockey. I had a quick sauna before the game. My dad had installed a new ‘oven’ to the sauna so ofcourse i had to test it, and it was so nice and relaxing. The water was way too cold for swimming and i didn’t want to get sick, so i skipped it. My uncle Bernhard (my dad’s brother) and his wife were also at the summer house, was nice to see them. After the game we headed back to the city to sleep. In the morning we packed our stuff, picked up Hank (who was coming with us back to Turku) and drove to the summer house for lunch before starting to drive back to Turku. We got on the road at about 3pm and were in Turku around 10 in the evening, so six hours it toox approximately this time too. When we got back we watched the hockey final, or what was left of it and went to sleep.

This could possibly be my longest post in a while, i hope it wasn’t boring at all. Now i will go and wash the dishes. See you again soon!

current music: deep purple – knocking at your back door (live)

As Niko wisely said in his blog, today Endrive goes Manse, which means Tampere and tomorrow we rock the new capital city of Finland, which is Helsinki – everyone knows that Turku is the real capital, some morons just decided to burn it down some years and two ago. I will take my videocamera with me on this journey and maybe we’ll see the birth of a new “band of retards” episode, hopefully. Yesterday me and Melanie went to see ‘Disco Ensemble’ play at klubi together with opening-act ‘Downstairs’. Downstairs did a good job opening up the evening, a well fitting band for DE (Disco Ensemble). The sounds were quite messy for Downstairs and i was afraid that was the case also with DE, i was delightfully wrong. Because when DE got on stage and kicked off with “Magic Recoveries” the place blew up. I was really impressed by everything; the sounds, the lights, the musicianship and the live energy. The boys in DE really proved once again that they are in fact one of the top acts in Finland at the moment. I can’t still understand how amazing Jussi’s guitar work is, such an innovative, creative, versatile, unique and talented guitarist. Definetly one of the best ‘young’ guitarists in Finland. Was nice to notice that some of the guys still remembered me from the Deep Insight years and greeted me from stage, you guys rock! If you ever get a chance to see this band live i suggest you get a ticket and go and rock with the guys.

current music: tv noises (sturm der liebe)

Greeting my friends, i’m back again – with a shorter break than last time. Don’t really have anything special to write about but i thought i’d drop a few lines. I’m really looking forward to our two upcoming, out-of-Turku, shows in Tampere and Helsinki. Will be great to rock out tomorrow and hopefully we get the chance to watch Finland’s quarter-final game on a screen somewhere. Finland is playing in the hockey world championships quarter-final game against team USA, who ‘we’ already beat some days ago. Today i was downtown to take care of some stuff. Was at the bank, bought some drumsticks and washed my car, which looks nice and clean again. Tonight me and Melanie are going to see ‘Disco Ensemble’ live at Klubi with opening act ‘Downstairs’. Both bands are great so i’m really looking forward to that.

current music: tv noises

Hey everyone. Ik know it’s been a great while since, but i haven’t written due to personal reasons and unmotivation, sorry about that. So what should i write about now. Well first of all, i became an Unlce for the third time, when my sister gave birth to a little baby-girl, named Ella-Maria. We also had the Endrive show at TVO with Rites of the Youth and Novembersoundsbetter, i have edited together a video containing two of our songs, latter one being a brand new, to see it, just click here. Next week we have two shows with Endrive and “finallY” outside the borders of our beloved hometown of Turku. On the 14th we play in Tampere at Vastavirta and on the 15th we play in Helsinki at Lepakkomies, these shows will be together with a band called “Dusk of Man”. To other topics. The hockey world championships is finally udner way and Finland has won all the three games so far, not clearly but still, victorys count either you win with one goal or four. Today is the fourth game between Finland and Latvia, starting, well two minutes ago. Yesterday i did a 16 hour shift, from 2pm yesterday to 6am this morning, man it was tough, but i managed and i actually had some fun. Kalle, a friend from work, also did 16 hours, so it was nice to have a friend there because i don’t really know so much people in this shift i was working in (the extra shift). Now i have two night-shifts left and then the little break. On Tuesday me and Melanie are going to see Disco Ensemble play live at Klubi here in Turku, looking forward to that. But i will go on with the day now, and i will try to get back into the writing mood in the future. I hope you all have a nice summer weather wherever you are and take good care of all your friends and loved ones, we will meet soon again, i promise. Be blessed!
