current music: tv noise

Hello there again. Yesterday we had Endrive rehearsals and now we’re finally through this years shows and were concentrating on writing new material for our upcoming release. We’re currently working on three new songs of which two are amazing, i think atleast. The third one is a quick energy boost, i will work on some cool drum parts for that to make it [more] interesting for me, not saying its bad, just need some more diverse drumming on it. I will talk more about these later with better time. Last night i had the last night shift for this working “streak”. Today i went to our practise place to wash my car with the supplies i got, but the mount for the tap didn’t fit so i had to drive to K-Rauta (hardware store) to get the proper mount and finally i got my washing under way. The end result wasn’t as professional but i will develop in time. Tomorrow our friends Hans and Björn are coming here for barbeque and most likely we’ll get a movie or something. But now i will go on with my day, see you again soon.

Hey again. Short update for now. Was working last night again, and the night went quite easily. I was extremely tired when i left for work but got better, thankfully. There was a very strong thunderstorm in Salo, during the first four hours (10pm – 2am) and the whole factory was shaking due to the powerful thunder. I was outside during my first break and the sky was flashing every five seconds or so and water pouring down. Today when i woke up i went to ‘Motonet’ to buy some supplies (basically everything) for car washing, like hoses etc. I still have two more nightshifts to go and then i have three days off. Now off to enjoy the last hours free before work and to make something to eat for work too. See you again soon.

current music: tv noise

Hello there my dear readers and greetings from Tampere. Yesterday Endrive played a show there, in a park near the marketplace. As we were approaching Tampere we saw dark and rainy clouds over the city and brought the mood down naturally. When we arrived to the venue it was still sunny but raining a bit, which got worse and worse. After our soundcheck we had some food and headed back and the rain started to give up and the skating could begin. It was a cultural event with skating in a miniramp with competitions and then a stage with live music. The first band to take on the stage was ‘On Volcano’, if i’m not wrong they came from Tampere. They played some kind of poprock, reminding me of finnish bands ‘Stella’ and ‘Calf’, quite good. The second band was ‘Polemarch’ including former members of Starlight Nine; Sauli and Valtteri. This was their first show and could be seen, but in time the playing will shape up im sure. The music was aggressive hardcore with some more soothing parts, which i think they might as well could’ve left out. The vocalist/screamer was really good in screaming and the ‘clean vocals’ were more spoken words. I hope you’re following me so far, writing a bit weirdly at the moment, sorry. Anyway, after Polemarch they gave the skating awards on the main stage as we (endrive) were making our gear ready onstage and eventually we started rocking. I gotta give props to the monitor mixer for making the sounds on the stage amazing. Haven’t had this great stage sound in a long time and this always makes the rocking more fun. During our set the sun was shining in onto the stage and it was warm. The musicianship was good on this show and we all really enjoyed this gig. After the show we sat and watched ‘Frivolvol’ rock the stage. We saw half of their set before we drove off to Turku. The drive home was crazy, especially as we were approaching Turku. The whole car turned into a party wagon. We found a dance/techno radio station and Niko was doing the strobe light with his digitalcamera’s flash, have a funny video of that. I will probably make a short episode out of this for you to enjoy and laugh at. Atleast we had a blast. Once again im sorry for this messy writing, so much to write in little time and everything goung around in my head. But this was our Tampere trip in its simpleness (is that a word?!). Oh well, now im off to watching Survivor, see you again soon. Take care!

current music: crap from tv

…well not the real Manchester, but the Manchester of Finland, which is Tampere or in swedish Tammerfors. The band of retard-oes (Endrive) will travel there tomorrow to play at Indie Knockout 2008, an outdoor event in the heart of Tampere. We’re leaving there at approx. 1 pm tomorrow, soundcheck we have (scheduled) at 3.30pm and showtime 7.30 pm. Hopefully it will NOT rain and some people would actually show up. To my knowledge the event is free of charge for attenders so if you live in the area, please show up and chant “BAGHEEERAAA!”. Anyway, now i’m off so i’ll see you again, after this journey most likely and if something fun or retarded ends up on my cam, you will see it in a brand new episode of “Band of Retards” (that would be the fourth episode). But until the next time, take care and bye bye then!

current music: the juliana theory – jewel to sparkle (playing in my head)

Hello ya’ll! Just got home from Endrive practise and put my clothes into the washing machine and now i’m making food. Yesterday we were on a so-called ‘picnic cruise’, which means a 12 hour cruise to Åland and back (change of boat in Mariehamn, Åland). We had a good time, with lots of dancebands (schlager type) and good buffet food, yummee. Me and Hans had a dance-off on this one arcade game where you dance by stepping on the arrows, dont know the official name but i think you know what i mean. My stomach hurt though after the cruise quite much but now it’s back to normal. Tomorrow morning i have to get up at 4am again, for work. I will post some pics of the cruise soon. Now i will go and finnish my food, spaghetti bolognese, yum yum.

Hey everyone. Quick update. It’s monday morning and we’re going on a 12h cruise to Åland (Mariehamn) and back to Turku. My good friend Hank is working at this company so the cruise in itself is free of charge. So Melanie, Me, Hank and Björn are the ones enjoying this. Bit rainy outside but that wont ruin it. I also wrote a while ago about this one gas station in Jalasjärvi. Well yesterday the owner replied to my post, how cool is that. If you understand finnish i suggest you click here and read the comment. But now i gotta go, more later. Bon Voyagé!

current music: the juliana theory – jewel to sparkle (playing in my head)

Hello, it’s been a while. I’m sorry about that. I just (well some hours ago) got home from Endrive rehersals and took a well deserved bath after some days without shower, three days of work and one sweaty practise session. I was working nightshift last night, and maybe the toughest one to date due to many reasons and i was very tired as well. My Nokia career will be coming to an end in a month or so. Still i have more details about this that i will tell you soon, please be patient. Henri wasn’t for some reason a part of today’s practise, last minute drop out, oh well, maybe something important came up.

I watched an interesting music documentary about a week ago. A band called ‘Angels & Airwaves’, maybe you’ve heard of it, formed by ex-Blink182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge. It’s funny how a guy from Blink can put on such an amazing band. Anyway. Back to the documentary. It was very inspiring to me as a “musician” (if you can call me that). He told about the departure with Blink182 in some detail and the basics of the documentary was making of their debut record “We don’t need to whisper” (which in my opinion is an amazing record. This documentary made me just wanna get up the couch and start writing music, truly inspiring. I recommend it to every musician and music fan. The documentary is entitled “Start the Machine”, just by the way. Anyway, now i’m off to eat some and make me some food for work, nightshift is calling. Viva Nokia!

Hey there. I tried to come up with a clever subject for this post and that’s all i could figure out, sorry about that. Anyway, the thing is. Some days ago i got a private message on youtube basically saying “hello old neighbour, you really can drum”. So first i thought of a nextdoor neighbour i used to have in Kokkola, this techno freak (dont get me wrong, he was a nice guy) anyway, i replied to him (based on the nickname it was a he) and asked for more details on who this could be. Turned out it is the little brother of my childhood friend Tuomo (no last name needed). Me and Tuomo (a.k.a. Tomppa) used to hang out alot and listen to Guns ‘n Roses in their basement air drumming and air guitaring. He had a very young little brother, Joel, and he wrote me. Last time i saw him he was, well i cant quite remember but under school age for sure. This was such a surreal feeling. In a way cool, because i asked him if he knows if “Tomppa” has msn or email so i could contact him. I also should ask how old Joel, or Jolle as we called him back then, is. This was bizarre but very cool too. Thanks Joel for writing and send greetings to your brothers and parents.
